At 8:10, we walked up to the entrance from our hotel, which wasn't too bad when it was in the mid-60s outside. I bought the tickets online ahead of time so we skipped the line and went right in,
Entrance gate on the way up
I also saw a Washington Irving (of Sleepy Hollow fame) statue on the pathway up the hill. He lived here while writing Tales of the Alhambra. Didn't get a picture of that, but did get a lot of others:
Archways in a reconstructed residence in the Medina, Alhambra
Cannon overlooking Granada
Palace of Charles V
Inside the Palace. Don't know what the construction was about.
Entering Alcazaba. This was the principal defense of the castle.
View of Torre de la Vela in Alcazaba
View of Granada from Torre de la Vela. The Cathedral of Granada can be seen just off center.
Palacio del Partal
Interior View, Palacio del Partal
The tomb of Ferdinand and Isabella (the ones who bankrolled Columbus).
Patio de la Sultana, Generalife, Alhambra
Filigree detail, Patio de la Sultana, Generalife, Alhambra
We're one week in to the trip and there are so many things to see and do. Spain like a Shady Maple of history, culture, and entertainment--and I'm wearing my buffet pants!
¿Cómo se dice "It's never too late for a coffee." en Español? Nunca esta demasiado tarde para un café.
