Adios Barcelona, Hola Valencia (6/9)

We left Barcelona early Friday and drove to Valencia.  It was a 3.5 hr drive on the AP-7 (if you want to look it up on a map) which gave me a chance to get a feel for the car.  The "P" in AP stands for peaje, which means toll.  It also means we spent $46.50 to get there!!  The road was very good and we needed to make time, so that's OK.  Maybe we can take the back road (which is free) next time.

The scenery was interesting too.  Like England and Ireland, Spain has it's share of old castles and we saw a few on hilltops as we drove south.  I think of them as Moorish castles but since we didn't get up close to them, I'm not sure about that.

I forgot how hard it was to park in Europe.  We found our hotel in Valencia and a nearby parking garage, but I got the car too close to a pillar in the underground lot.  The back end was hanging out a bit and I was going to leave it that way and then come back and try to fix it.  I tried to ask the parking attendant if that was allowed, but he didn't understand me.  Kyle came to the rescue and spoke to the guy who directed me safely out of the spot.  I was embarrassed and proud at the same time.
