But first we did a walking tour of the old city, seeing the Barcelona Historical Archive, the Barcelona Cathedral and just some great historical sights, from Roman to medieval. We didn't go inside the cathedral, but it was very impressive.

Next was the Park Guell, which was originally meant to be a hosing developing featuring Gaudi's designs. It was begun in 1900, but work stopped with the outbreak of World War I. There are no homes designed by Gaudi within it, but the area was declared a public park in 1926.

At first we walked around the outside of the park (which was free), but Jason really wanted to see what was called the Monumental Zone, so we bought tickets for 730 pm. We killed the five hours until then by finding a nice place for lunch, visiting Gaudi's Casa Batllo, and riding the subway around. I'm glad we bought the tickets because I've never seen anything like this.
Another addition to the "My Wife Underground" series.

To top it all off, we went to the ninth floor cafeteria at El Corte de Ingles, a huge department store near Place Catalunya. The food was good and the view was spectacular.

We leave Barcelona tomorrow and head to Valencia in the rental car.
¿Cómo se dice "Good afternoon" en Español? Buenas tardes.
