Family trip to Spain

Another trip, another blog.

One week until we start this family trip.  Our thinking was that since Jason graduated high school this year and Kyle will be a senior next year, this would be a good time to go.  It may be the last one that all four of us can go together.

Why Spain?  Well, first we asked Jason where he'd like to go.  He said Japan--anyone who knows me knows how proud I was of that choice--but we just couldn't afford that.  We discussed our options and everyone wanted to go back to Europe (see previous Irish blog).  Since Kyle was doing well in his fourth year of Spanish, it seemed a natural choice.  I think we'll be relying on him a lot since my high school Spanish is very rusty.  I also read that the Latin American version I learned is somewhat different than the Castilian that will be spoken there.

Another recurring theme for my returning readers is how nervous I am about the trip.  When I went on trips with my dad to the UK and to Ireland (see previous blogs in the profile), he had done all the work with hotels and trip.  When we went with to the Philippines, Fe had done most of the arrangements with hotels and family stays.  On this one, I did almost all the arranging and planning.  I even started to see the appeal of guided tours (!).  There's a lot packed into this self-driving trip (see Google map links below) but I have to remember to be flexible and embrace any changes that might occur during the trip.  Hopefully they will be few.
